Help! I Can't Get Down!

Have you ever been in a situation you couldn't get out of? You climbed up the ladder only to find you can't get down? You left the life you knew was good, to travel in greener pastures, only to find there were no roots...only a pallet of green astroturf. You say, "God, I'm going my own way. I'm climbing to the top of my false dreams", only to be faced with reality. You see...climbing the ladder is easy, but you fall short of bravery to get yourself down.

Several months ago, my brother climbed a ladder to the roof of his two story house. His journey up the ladder was easy peasy! When it was time to come down, however, the ladder was too short. There was nothing to hold on to. So, he sat on the roof in the hot sun, waiting for someone to come to his rescue.

Finally, his daughters brought the trampoline to the lowest part of the roof and told him to jump! My brother is not a fan of heights, so free falling onto a tiny circle on the ground was not what he wanted to do. But, to get off that roof, he had to let go....and jump!

Sometimes you hold on to things you believe are steady. In reality those things have you in bondage to a life style that has driven you far beyond your worst nightmare. But, you say, "Letting go is scary! It's the only life I've known for a long time". Sometimes you just have to let go! Let go of the old crowd you've been hanging out with. The crowd who sucked you into a lifestyle you never dreamed you would be participating in. The crowd that tries to pull you back in, when you finally decide to make the break!

Stay true to your course, my friend. Because when you do, the Bible says, "Christ will make his home in your heart as you trust Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong". Ephesians 3:17
